Sing with Canada’s premier professional choir

RBC Emerging Artists Project

For the 2016–2017 season, Pro Coro Canada is offering an internship for four (4) emerging professional singers.

Interns will participate in three (3) subscription concerts in the 2016-2017 season. The selected singers will receive an honourarium for each of the performances. Attendance at all scheduled rehearsals and performances is mandatory.

The four singers will be mentored and receive vocal coaching from a Pro Coro Canada singer over the course of the rehearsal and performance period. Michael Zaugg, with the help of the coaches, will provide a written evaluation at the end of the season.

How to apply:

Step 1:  Send a current CV and letter to [email protected] and answer in detail the following questions:

  1. Which experience(s) from your participation in choirs and as a singer motivates you to search out further exposure to a professional choral environment?
  2. What (music-related) skill set that you currently possess do you consider an asset when working with a professional ensemble?
  3. How does an internship with Pro Coro Canada fit into your musical trajectory?

Step 2:   You must be available for an audition/interview on May 26, 2016 (between 6pm and 10pm) with Michael Zaugg.  For this audition you need to bring an Art Song of your own choice (with copies for an accompanist), recite a text in English and German, and do a variety of musicianship exercises.

Step 3:   You must confirm that you are available for ALL rehearsals and performances. If selected for an internship position with Pro Coro Canada, rehearsals and performances take absolute priority over any other engagements. Please see the next page for rehearsal and performance schedule.

Application Deadline: Monday, May 23, 2016
